Privacy Policy

This is the website for the Quincy Pickleball League, free Saturday-morning pickleball open play at Bishop Field. We’ve tried to keep this simple, because the site itself is simple.

What we collect

Very little. There are no accounts to create, and nothing you type on this site is sent to us — our sign-up link opens a Google Form instead. Browsing the site is anonymous: the only thing we gather here is privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (see below) so we can tell roughly how many people visit and which parts of the site are useful. It never records your name or identity, doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t store anything on your device, and doesn’t build a profile of you across websites.

Two things are different, and both are covered in their own sections below: if you sign up or text us, you give us your details directly, and if you come play, you may end up in a photo we post.

Analytics

We use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics tool, in its cookieless mode. That means:

• No cookies or other data are stored on your device, so there ’s no cookie banner to click through.
• We don’t collect your name, email, or anything that personally identifies you.
• To count visits without cookies, PostHog creates a temporary, regularly-rotating identifier by hashing technical details (such as your IP address and browser type) on its servers. It can’t be traced back to you and resets on its own.
• We can see aggregate things like which pages get viewed, which buttons (for example “Sign Up” or “Get directions”) get clicked, your approximate region, and the kind of device and browser you’re using.
• This data is processed by PostHog and stored on servers in the United States, under PostHog’s Privacy Policy.

Contacting us & signing up

If you text us or use our sign-up link, you’re sharing your information with us directly, or through a third-party service:

• Texting. If you text the number listed on our site, we’ll have your phone number and whatever you send us. We only use it to answer you and run the Saturday sessions.
• Sign-up form. Our “Sign Up” link goes to a Google Form. Anything you enter there is handled by Google under Google’s Privacy Policy. We use those responses to organize the Saturday sessions — and, where the form asks you to agree to our Liability Waiver or Photo Release, we keep a record of that agreement. We hold those consent records for about three years after your last session, because that’s how long someone has to bring a claim in Massachusetts, and we may need to show what you agreed to. We don’t sell any of it or share it with anyone outside the League.

Photos

We take photos and short videos at Saturday sessions and post some of them on this website and on our social accounts, so people can see what open play actually looks like. If you’re recognizable in one, that’s information about you, so here’s how we handle it:

• We don’t publish your full name, phone number, or email address next to a photo. A first name in a caption is as far as it goes.
• We don’t sell photos or license them to anyone for advertising unrelated to the League.
• You can opt out. Tell an organizer and we’ll do our best to keep you out of photos and to avoid posting ones where you’re identifiable. You can still play — opting out changes nothing else.
• You can ask us to take a photo down at any time. Text us at the number in the footer and we’ll remove it from this site and our own accounts as soon as we reasonably can.
• Because we play at a public park, we can’t promise you will never appear in the background of a shot, and we can’t control photos taken by other players or by the public.

The map

Our courts map is powered by CARTO and OpenStreetMap. When the map loads in your browser, those services receive your IP address in order to send back the map tiles — the same way any embedded map works. We don’t control what they do with it.
